We design, implement and manage biodiversity monitoring programmes that quantify the biodiversity benefits of site-specific interventions, in-line with the Wallacea Trust Methodology. We work closely with our clients to create bespoke monitoring plans tailored to their unique project needs. The data we collect through this approach can be submitted to the Biodiversity Futures Initiative (BFI) to generate validated Nature Positive Claims which can also be converted into biodiversity credits. Our team can also assist with BFI applications and other project documentation.

For example, if your project aims to restore water quality throughout the catchment then we might include the diversity of freshwater invertebrates as a metric because increases will indicate project success. This ensures the data collected effectively measures the desired outcomes and demonstrates any biodiversity gains for supporting Nature Positive claims.

Our remote sensing team uses satellite and drone imagery to accurately map habitat types across the project area and design a scientifically sound sampling strategy, which determines where and when samples should be taken. Additionally, our specialists develop rigorous sampling methodologies, focusing on how the data is collected to ensure the process is both robust and reliable.

Innovative Monitoring Solutions
Recognising that obtaining a biodiversity baseline can be costly for small conservation projects, we co-developed an innovative solution with Mozaic Earth. Using the Mozaic Earth app, non-ecologists can collect biodiversity data across their sites directly using their smartphone. This approach eliminates the need for specialist ecologists to conduct fieldwork, significantly reducing costs and making biodiversity monitoring more accessible.
